Listening and shadowing
Listen to native speakers before you speak, and copy them. To shadow, play a short clip and speak along with it, a moment behind. How to practise speaking with an AI explains how.
- Forvo: single words and phrases recorded by volunteers, mostly native speakers for living languages. You can play them on the site. Latin recordings mix the classical and Church pronunciations, so check them against our pronunciation lesson.
- Tatoeba: a free, open collection of example sentences with translations; some sentences have audio recorded by volunteers, and you can browse just those. Good short clips for shadowing.
- NHK World: Easy Japanese: beginner dialogues with audio, slow and clear.
- TV5MONDE: Apprendre le français: free short French videos with listening exercises, and a short test to find your level.
- RFI: Journal en français facile: slower French news with transcripts, so you can read along while you shadow.
Psychology
- OpenStax: Psychology 2e: a free introductory psychology textbook.
- Noba Project: free, expert-written psychology modules for students and teachers.
